A Trio of Sophies | Book Review

I always get excited when a character in a book is named after me, well not named after me but has my name. You know what I mean... So when I heard about this book A Trio of Sophies* by Eileen Merriman over on the Turning Pages NZ Goodreads group how could I not get excited? Three Sophies???

Turns out that actually only one goes by Sophie most the time, and she's the one who has mysteriously disappeared.

Infinity Son by Adam Silvera 4/5

Didn’t know what to expect but I really enjoyed it! I haven’t been feeling a lot of fantasy type books in a while but this pulled me right back in. Good mix of drama, relationships, and relatability (as relatable as you can get to a kid with superpowers).

Recently Read: 5 excellent books from the past 3 months

I may be a bit behind on my monthly reading round-ups so instead of reviewing every book I read in the past three months (as there's 15 of them) I thought I'd share my top five! While I read a fair bit while away on holiday I didn't manage to read as many books as I'd hoped, mostly because I chose to take the almost 600 paged Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas with me. However, I did read a fair amount of five star and high 4 stared books so here they are!

Puddin' by Julie Murphy | Book Review

I bloody loved this book! Another book for my abnormally large five-star pile of 2019!

To be honest I haven't read the first book (Dumplin') which I know is a terrible thing but I have watched the movie, not that that makes it any better. However, as it's a companion novel and about different main characters I feel like it's not too bad, even if I hadn't watched the movie I feel like I wouldn't struggle as most of the backstory from the first book is explained. I cried and I laughed, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Another month bites the dust, and I finally finished all my physical review copies that have been hanging around, woo! I even discovered maybe my favourite book of the year??? How crazy is that?? I know this is late and it's practically mid-June now and we're almost halfway through the year but here's my May books and the maybe favourite book of the year...

The Flat Share by Beth O'Leary | Review

It's not often that I'll want to stay up past my bedtime because a book is so gripping (I'm a stickler for a routine) but The Flat Share* was one of them. While slightly predictable you were so involved in Tiffy and Leon's lives that you didn't care, you felt it was only right that these things were to happen because you knew them, you'd been with them through all the moments of their lives that everything made sense.

April was sort of a slow reading month, I spent most of the month trying to get through The Binding and the rest was spent reading other things to avoid reading The Binding. It wasn't a bad book, just took forever to get through. Anyway here's what I read!

Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks | Review

If you're in the mood for a romance novel that will probably make you feel a lot of feels and probably shed a tear or two, you can't go wrong with a Nicholas Sparks novel. I thought I'd read a fair few of his but checking off the titles listed in the back of Every Breath, turns out I've probably only read 1/3 of them. Either way, I feel like I know a little bit about Nicholas Sparks books, in that I know that I will cry at some point and Every Breath* didn't prove me wrong.
