Just have a little perspective

Today in one of my classes we were discussing the topic of well being. The tutors got us to write down a list of positives that have happened in our lives, negatives that have happened, and why. We went through some rather big events in the positives, I wrote down things from getting accepted into university to having a lie in, but the negatives were a little harder. My group and I talked about the tiny first world problems that have a negative impact in our lives, breaking a nail or your iPhone, however we weren't confident I guess is the word to share the bigger ones.

After all of this our tutors got us to look back over our negative lists and see what we could've done differently so that they wouldn't have happened, but also what we could do now to make our view on them different. To look at it from another angle so to speak. For example my group and I talked about getting a bad grade or turning a project in that you weren't happy with. We decided that although it might not be a great grade it was only one grade. One grade out of a whole heap of them we'd get at uni we might as well think about what else we achieved from that paper, that we'd learnt lots, and learnt how to do things different next time.

It made me think more about my life. I'm pretty happy with my life; I have a great family, great boyfriend, great friends, great kitten, great house, what more do I need? Unfortunately there are a few small things that get me down but I feel that if I put it into perspective from today's class then maybe I may be able to sort them out. For a start I should put all the bad stuff behind me and never look back. Stop searching for things I know will put a downer on my day.

I'm no expert but some key advice I will say would be to PUT THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE, DON'T SEARCH FOR SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE YOU UNHAPPY, DELETE ALL NEGATIVE PROBLEMS IN YOUR LIFE - some maybe as easy as unfollowing that jerks Instagram, some might be harder.

21 years ooer

Friday, 24 April 2015

I know this is a quickie short post but as it was my 21st yesterday I felt that pfft its my birthday I can do what I wanna! I had a few birthday celebrations in the lead up to the actual day with my family, Brad's family, and friends. The actual day unfortunately started with a 9am class but I got to catch up with friends I hadn't properly seen for a while. The rest was spent with Brad who lovingly took the day off from his Air Force duties on the lead up to ANZAC day, we did dinner and went out to see a band in a local bar with friends. But yes excuse the iPhone photos I was too excited and I wasn't planning on blogging about the day but I got a few photos so I thought I should! Aren't we attractive?

Recently Read

Monday, 16 February 2015

Recently since the start of the year I've read 5 books, a little ahead of my Goodreads challenge of 30 books but a little behind my Mum challenge where I want to beat her and she's on 9. I thought I would share some thoughts on these five:

Bossypants - Tina Fey
7/10
'Tina Fey's Autobiography' I read this because I thought it was going to be funny, but I think it might have been a bit better if I'd actually watched more of her shows, or like any of her shows. I did enjoy it though I won't say it wasn't funny it just probably would've been more funny if I had.

Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell
8/10
'Two misfits, one extraordinary love.' Although this was a very cheesy teen love story I did enjoy it and I have written a longer review on this one so check it out if you're interested.

You're The One That I Want - Giovanna Fletcher
7/10
'A story about a love triangle between three childhood best friends.' I admit I only picked this one up because it's written by Tom from McFly's wife. Also it was recommended by his sister Carrie Fletcher who's YouTube is here. I went into this book with some low expectations but this little love triangle was much better than the crappy one over in Twilight. However I did have hopes the entire book that the prologue actually didn't happen and she would end up with the other guy, spoiler alert the prologue comes true.

Penelope - Rebecca Harrington
8/10
'Harvard freshman's story of her first year; full of parties, exams, and boys.' I really enjoyed this book and was thoroughly disappointed at the ending. It was an awful ending. Can Harrington just rewrite the ending and then I will give it a 9 or a 9.5 out of 10.

Trouble - Non Pratt
5/10
'A pregnant teen learns the meaning of friendship - from the boy who pretends to be the baby's daddy.' Yes another recommendation from Carrie and I do not continue this recommendation. A teenage pregnancy book aimed at tweens is not a great book for an almost 21 year old. I should have seen this coming if I actually read the blurb or looked at the cover...

So there we go! There's the first few books of the year and hopefully I continue to read at this pace and manage my 30 book challenge but I also have been stuck on the same book for 15 days now and I'm probably about 3 chapters in. Ya know the feeling?

Anyways I'm looking for a few better books to read so if you have any recommendations chuck us them in the comments! x

Bare your claws but don't let them be bare.

Images from my Pinterest
I was always really fond in painting my nails to the extent of my last year of high school I actually painted my nails every week with different designs from patterns and ombre, to well known characters like the Despicable Me Minions. Since then however my motivation to decorate my nails has gotten lower and lower to the point of I cant remember the last time my nails were painted... I think it was December though I'm pretty sure. So I thought while I had some free time before uni starts back up again this year I would get inspired through pinterest and start painting my nails again. For gods sake I have enough polish for my entire year at uni probably so I should really be using it before it goes all gross! I might start doing some more nail tutorials like I used to do on this blog, how would you guys feel about that? What would you like to see?

I've been a bit busy recently and after scheduling some posts while I've been away with no internet I'm back with more inspiration! So to catch you up here's some of my recent goings on. I've spent some quality time with the family before moving back to Wellington as I'm not sure when I'll be next home so we took the campervan out to Whakatane for a weekend and then travelled down to Wellington to drop off my stuff and join Brad's family camping. It was the first proper time our families spent quality time together and I'm glad to say it went off very smoothly, helped along by alcohol of course! They all went home and Brad and I stayed longer to spend some time together after almost a month apart; throwing rocks at the beach is what all the cool couples are doing right?! Once returning to the land of internet and phone signal we actually managed to find a kitten! Our own little tiny kitten barely months old and free I might add, more on him in a later post though he needs to be properly introduced. Hope things are going well for you guys in the recent weeks.

After looking back at my wishlist from last Christmas I realised I'd bought myself two of the items off it without even realising. So I thought I'd feature another wish list this year but make it a bit more affordable! I've compiled a stack of 13 items from the brand shop Cotton On, I know this brands in Australia and New Zealand and I'm pretty sure it's in some parts of America also but for others there is online shopping woop! All prices are in Australian Dollars.

Experimentation

Sunday, 16 November 2014
I've been creating things!! I thought while I was away at my boyfriends house and not being able to blog a lot I would show you some stuff I've been working on for the past two weeks since I had the photos with me. I'm currently working on a few minor projects including creating a few logos for myself and others, and experimenting with watercolour to hopefully improve my skills enough to actually sell things.

I'm flying without wings

Friday, 30 August 2013

There's something magical about being in a plane flying above the clouds. I've been on so many flights in my life and still staring out the window at the clouds and skies never gets old. Most people actually prefer flying at night so they can sleep the hours away but I love it in the day so you can see outside. I'm sure the more frequent flyers think I'm a silly little girl when I'm sitting with my iPad pressed up against the window taking pictures of clouds but it's just so pretty to me x

Winter Wonderland

Wednesday, 14 August 2013

I was looking through my files for a photograph for my friend for uni and I came across my folder from when I first got my DSLR camera back in England in December. Of course having the new thing I wanted to just take a photograph of everything and got way too snap happy without even reading how to even use the bloody thing. I still haven't even properly learnt yet I am slow at getting my arse into gear guys. I loved taking photos of the scenery around my Nan and Grandads place because it was so pretty in the winter and frankly that's what I miss about winter here in New Zealand because winter is just rain and wind here.. in England it's amazingly beautiful with frost and chills and the occasional icicle and frozen rivers. I wish I'd taken more of the landscape as it was frankly so beautiful, sometimes I wish I lived there again so I could take in the beauty everyday.. x

There's no place like home :)

Wednesday, 12 June 2013

There's just something special about coming home from living away for even 2 months. Living in the city means there's not really all that much vegetation, there is quite a bit being New Zealand but there's just not as  much as further up north where my parents are. The sun was shining bright, the skies were blue and there were hardly any clouds.. I just couldn't not take photos.

I will say it will be a great break from the city but I'm not sure I'm going to cope in this tiny town for a whole month but lets see how we go. I think it's going to be a few days sleeping and relaxing in bed, in pajamas and all that jazz hehe x
