Instaluvin

Tuesday, 21 October 2014

So that thing I mentioned about posting lots due to the fact that I've finished uni is a lie. I still currently have two projects to finish even though classes have finished and one is a quick finish and the other is around 2 weeks away. However that's not the main reason, the fact that I'm moving house on Saturday is. I've mentioned this before so I wont go into it but I'm really excited and all the packing, sorting and getting rid of my room in my present apartment is taking up so much time. On with the post!I've recently gotten back into the habit of using Instagram for more than just posting photos and craving likes and follows. I'm actually following more and more people and enjoying all their posts at least like 10 times a day, it's getting a bit of an addiction. [in order from left to right, top to bottom.]

jasminedowling: Jasmine was one of the first blogs I started to follow after my return to Instagram. I really love her style and designs, especially her work with the gold foil lettering gimme all that! Her other lifestyle type photos are composed really well and pretty.

dinotomic: I've been following him for quite a while and can I just say go there right now and look at his flippin' amazing drawings, thats just promarkers and pencil crayons right there look! (and then come back here after following him please).

alittleopulent: Being an online magazine A Little Opulent posts photos of their latest articles and reviews and although I don't read the magazine I follow a few of their illustrators and writers as well. They post a nice mix of things from decor and design to make up and fashion.

emmabone3: Now Emma actually goes to my uni and I found through Facebook page surfing. Her lettering style is amazing and I want it so much - I've even had planned an artist review blog post on her because I love her work so much.

talesatsea: Sarah's Instagram I also found through her type but she posts so much more than just type; she posts lots of everyday lifestyle posts including photos of her newly gorgeous pink hair.

nectarandstone: Yay baking and food! Caroline makes the best desserts and chocolate you could only dream about - unless you live in Australia you lucky buggers! She does everything from chocolate pyramids and macarons to cookies and cake. I actually almost forgot to include this after not being able to decide what photo to put on as they're all so amazing.

abbysy: I only came across Abby's Instagram a few days ago but after scrolling through her page for hours I concluded it was now one of my favourite accounts. All of her photos are beautifully presented and she features a lot of her watercolour work which I pray that I can get as good as her some day.

nikkimcwilliams: Holy crap I have an Instagram that's not type? Wow! Nikki's Instagram is full of her fabulous creations - biscuit themed home accessories, mainly pillows which I want one of each please Santa. She also recently got a new little cat Frankie who is just adorable and I crave a kitten every time I see him.

fromrosesxo: The editor of A Little Opulent, Rebecca, has a gorgeous Instagram. Mainly filled with lifestyle sort of photos filled with design, fashion, food and her gorgeous pup Bella. If I can get my instagram to this level I would be so flipping happy!

VCD's ruined you!

Fueled by crispy m&m's and coke I've finally reached the end of the first half semester woohoo! Unfortunately I lost my mind and broke down a few minor times during this time but hey I survived and I've handed in pretty much all my work now. I haven't really had any free time to blog or even scroll tumblr so sorry anyone following my tumblr as it hasn't been as busy as usual. But the good thing is I've actually been learning things, shock horror I've been actually learning things from the university I'm paying to teach me things! From this I hope to turn this blog into a more kind of design blog than a lifestyle blog even though it was already leaning towards design so this means a new layout and new style (just as soon as I go home and have time to sort it). I'll hopefully be able to post more artists and inspiration and also my class work. For those of you who don't know I'm studying Bachelor of Design majoring in visual communication design which pretty much is a mixture of graphic design, illustration, digital media, and advertising.

Artist Attraction #5 | Emma Leonard

Sunday, 16 February 2014

Client: Hitched Magazine, April 2013
Illustrated by emma leonard

Another Melborne based artist, I'm somehow staying close to home with most of these artists I like which is really weird as all the 'native' type artists they used to bring out in art classes were horrible and I hated them but I guess there are many decent ones out there. Emma Leonard mixes both traditional painting and watercolour with digital enhanced imagery producing very clean and interestingly detailed women. If I could even draw people half as well as she does let alone paint then I would be one happy camper.

Greetings loved ones

Just a few little greeting card pieces I've produced the last week, really simple and quirky x

Artist Attraction #1 | Emma Zanelli

Sunday, 3 November 2013

I came across this gorgeous illustrator this morning on Pintrest, having stalked pretty much her entire Facebook of photos I came to the conclusion I really love Emma Zanelli of Kiss The Devil design and illustration. She's a freelance illustrator and graphic designer from the United Kingdom. There's just something about the mix of hand drawn pencil and Photoshop that gives me the happy 'yay fab illustration' feeling. She does commissions if you're interested over on her Facebook page so if you're interested in getting Zanelli-fied go check that out, also you should like her page too! I'm loving the contrast of the girly make up and hair with the tattoos, quite a common idea around some artists at the moment.

You'll never influence the world by copying it.

While purchasing a book for one of my classes I decided to pick up an A6 diary to keep with me at all times. I was inspired by one of my tutor to keep something near me to doodle or write on whenever I had spare time. Basically I wanted to improve my drawing skills and more importantly my pen drawing skills.. I've never really been one to understand the joys of using pen because of my major perfectionist brain I always wanted to erase half my drawings and redo them to make them as perfect as my skills could manage. Here's a few pages that I've done so far, as you can see I've been using it as a place to make lists too and fail at doing things on the list but hey at least I'm trying. Hopefully by the end of the book, 60 pages back and front so 120 drawings in total, I'll be slightly more decent at pen and throwing away my perfectionism... hopefully x

100 Day Project - Update 1

Friday, 21 June 2013

It's day 15 on the 100 day project and I've been keeping up much better than I thought I would really. Here's quite a few of my days as a little update post as I said I would post some as time went on. I'm only really happy with about three of my days; Simba, Timon and Pumbaa, and Stitch.. the others not so much. I think it may be that I'm a bit rushed for timing, one picture a day is actually really big for me as I normally take forever to finish one drawing so I'm doing okay.  I am pretty impressed with my range of media to be quite honest, although there's only like 4 different types I've used so far normally I only use pencil for my Disney sketches so this is an improvement at least x
