Hello, is it me you're looking for?

Friday, 31 July 2015

I'm sorry I've been a bit MIA recently there's just so much going on. Pretty boring stuff like uni projects getting so much more intense and getting ready to move house. But yes I thought the #BlogGreatness theme for this week was a perfect time to try get back into the swing of things and update you a little bit too!

Now the theme this week is Square which I've used in the respect of good old Instagram! Since I've created a new Instagram account to use for this blog I've gotten back into instagramming so I thought I'd share some latest posts and update you on what's been happening.

While at home I used the time away from people I knew to try out something I've wanted to do for ages. I dip dyed the ends of my hair turquoise! It came out a gorgeous bright bluey green and I loved it. Unfortunately I didn't think about how it would fade and it turned rather green, however now it's a nice pale green that's hardly noticeable. It just wasn't that nice having to return to uni with green hair haha!

The last weekend of the six week holiday was Brads Brass Band Competition in Rotorua. Due to it being close to home this year my parents came along and we enjoyed the weekend listening to music and bonding with Brads family even more. This included a great brunch of the waffles above, gosh they were nice! Brad and his band managed to win the A Class competition which makes them to top brass band in Australasia, and Brad himself won the best soloist in the test piece which is a big thing too! There was heaps of snow on the way home too so we of course stopped for a snowball fight!

Since then it's pretty much been constant work for uni. Being only a few months until my fourth and final year starts my assignments at the moment are basically mini versions of the fourth year projects to get us ready and eager. Unfortunately this means I have so much work to do for all of my classes and it's proving hard to leave time to blog. I'll hopefully get used to it and get back into a nice system seen as my usual system of blogging on a thursday night has kind of been ruined now I have class 9-4 and just crash as soon as I get home (and then do more work for fridays class). Fingers crossed I get back into the swing of things as this blog has really taken a back seat over a couple of months so I really need to pull it forward and get back into it.

But yes how have you been?

McFly, MSN, and Myspace

Monday, 27 April 2015

I saw recently on Sarah-Elizabeth's blog, The Spanish Bluebell, that she did this little remembering post with a random coin she pulled out her wallet. Pretty much the gist is you pull it out at random and reminisce about things you did in that year. Problem was I pulled out a couple of coins first that were 1990 and 1991 so yeah I wasn't born but next was 2008, coincidently the same as Sarah-Elizabeth! So what was happening in 2008?

Well I turned 14 and was in year 9 for a start, oh year 9 that was truly an awful year for me... that and year 10. Unfortunately my school was a year 7-13 school so everyone was already in friend groups and it wasn't like everyone was in a new school together. I'd only been in New Zealand for just over 3 months of 2007 so 2008 was my first proper year in NZ and my first proper go at school with electives and everything. I was currently ahead of most of my year as the UK is quite far ahead in teaching so I was in all of the top classes and knew everything my beginner French teacher was teaching the class.

I met the only two people I really speak to properly now from high school in this year. Conveniently the girl I sat next to in Maths was the daughter of my mums work colleagues so we ended up getting to be pretty good friends. The other we didn't really get to know each other until the following year but we met and knew each other so that counts right? I spent most of my time with my best friend at the time who had around 8 dogs at that current moment in time I think, I could never keep up, but that amazed me. I also got my first pair of rats this year, Milo and Slinky, they were my buddies and detested by many but they were the cutest things.

I didn't join Facebook until 2009 so it was all Myspace and a bit of Bebo for me in 2008 oh how those were the days. Gosh I think I was still on MSN back then, there was only so many ways you could keep in contact with friends on the other side of the world. I mean I had to have someone to talk to about McFly and other British bands seen as no one in NZ knew who they were! I'm pretty sure I was still snooping around things like Runescape and Neopets as well when my friends weren't looking and was my Gaia Online phase in 2008 I cant remember.

I think that's about it, or about as much as I can remember and am willing to share. Pretty much I was a bit lame haha hopefully I've improved since then, at least I can kinda apply make-up now and don't think bright red jeans are the key to fashion... If you have a go at this let me know!

Top of my Topshop shopping list

Monday, 23 March 2015
1. Moto Black Short Dungarees£32.00 2. Kitten Ankle Socks£3.50 3. Margot Pinstud Boots£75.00 4. Contrast Bobble Beanie Hat£14.00 5. Lipstick in Wicked£8.00 6. Lipstick in The Damned£8.00 7. Velvet Lace Shorts £20.00 8. Cat Print Pyjama Set£28.00

While lying in bed sick with the flu and avoiding the coursework looming over me I took to internet shopping, I did actually make an order on iHerb oops but it was mainly window shopping. Now if you're not from New Zealand or if you've been hiding under a rock you may not know that we recently got ourselves our own Topshop. However seen as it's in Auckland I'm still stuck online shopping so here's some of my favourite things on their site. (Prices in Pounds although the NZ pricing is a little bit more expensive than Glassons for you wondering).
Following the NZBloggers chat two weeks ago I mentioned I was going to try wear things a little more out of my comfort zone so a few of these items are inspired by that. Now I do love everything on this list but damn those studded boots I need them like seriously need them even though I don't know if they'd suit me and they're hella expensive!

1. Crepe Sweetheart Crop Top£20.00 2. Moto Super Ripped Jamie Jeans - £45.00 3. Nail Varnish in Bound£6.00 4. Nail Varnish in Snow Cone£6.00 5. Desire Jumper by Religion£95.00 6. Blanche Ankle Boots - £45.00

Of course I've got me some Jamie jeans on there, they are a Topshop must have! As well as all the Topshop beauty, I've got a few lip products of theirs already and they're excellent so I know I'm going to pick up some more for sure when I get the chance! If anyone can let me know how much the lipsticks are in dollars that would be great! Hopefully I'm in Auckland soon and get a chance to have a look around but otherwise I'll be stuck online for a while. But hey it saves money right?

Girl online reviews Girl Online

So I jumped on the bandwagon and joined the tens of thousands in reading blogger and YouTube sensation Zoe 'Zoella' Sugg's new book. I do really love Zoe and although there's a lot of rumours and stories going around the internet regarding a ghost writer I still wanted to read it. However as books are flippin' expensive in New Zealand I had to take another route in acquiring this book. I will firstly say that it is a middle teenage book but it did read easily and I got through it in a few hours. I did like it however it was your average 'girl has a gay best friend, girl meets guy, falls in love, gay best friend gets upset, all hell breaks loose' kind of story. I really liked the characters and I commend Zoe as these are confirmed all her ideas, and personally will not buy it but I am looking forward to acquiring the second book she's been planning. Not sure how this will run with the internet/media talk happening right now but I'm wanting more closure for the story than we got.

I do recommend reading if you like your teen love stories although my advice would be to acquire it from one of the many 80 thousand people who've already bought it. Which slightly breaks my heart having it take over Harry Potter in the number of sales in the first week but makes me cheer for it taking over Fifty Shades of Grey as well!

Norma-lly I don't carry something this expensive.

Hola I finally have a proper blog post, one I've been planning since I won this little baby! I'd completely forgotten entering a competition for this cute wallet and honestly at the time I wasn't even that fond of it I've just gotten into the student habit of entering everything that has free stuff. But checking my emails at 10pm one night on the way to a party and seeing I'd won a competition that I didn't even remember entering was a very big plus. Now having received the Norma wallet from Madame Fancy Pants I can tell I was harsh to judge it so early, in fact it's not as bright a pink as I was expecting and it's can store a huge amount of stuff for how big it is. There's a large compartment at the back that can fit an iPhone 5s or below, a large compartment for cash and cards with 4 slots for your handy cards, and a zipped coin section at the front. Frankly I can't get over having just an expensive wallet especially as I'm currently storing it in a um $14 backpack... no Ted Baker to be seen here ladies! Now if you do happen to be in Wellington strolling down Cuba Street make sure to step into this little store and have a look around, they have everything from bags, clothes, and jewellery to prints and other trinkets. My favourite necklace is actually from here so if you have some spending money, go hit this shop!

Er so hi?!

Saturday, 23 August 2014

Oh so hello there! Remember me? I highly doubt that you do as it's been around four months since I last posted. So yeah I got busy and things which isn't really a great excuse but yay I slightly got a life and started socialising and things so let's be happy for me! So here's what you missed on glee:
  • I gained some really great grades and some really ew lame grades that I don't think I deserved in my first semester that finished in May.
  • I had a nice relaxing holiday back at home with my family and we went on some trips out in the new campervan together.
  • My boyfriend came up to stay with us for a week and properly meet the family (scary face) but it was all good he behaved excellently and they loved him.
  • I got a wreck this journal for my birthday! Which I haven't done as much as I thought I would've since then. (More on this in another post)
  • I returned back to uni and have now gone through another half semester and have just handed in all my work.
  • I got involved a lot in the party scene at the start of this semester and had a lot of fun that sometimes ended with me on the bathroom floor even though nothing happened I didn't want to trust my gut ahaa ;)
  • I've been trying to get back into the nail art scene and will hopefully get my skills back up to scratch.
  • The same with coding, I've gotten back into the HTML/CSS game and I'm learning how to code tumblr themes woo!
  • I lost my poor laptop, it decided it was time to go and gave me a poof of smoke and sparks and it was gone. The laptop repair people said it was probably best to just buy a new one so say hello to Dora my new (grossly) purple laptop which at the moment doesnt have photoshop so the above image was edited on paint woo!
  • I went to Armageddon, which is basically a smaller, less cool, nz version of comic con where I fangirled majorly.
  • I started collecting the Frankie magazine after a long long time of me not reading magazines. (More on this also in another post)
So that's the basics really and hopefully I'm going to be back on here more often! I have a few blogposts in mind to post over the holidays and hopefully over the next part semester I'll continue too!

There's no place like home :)

There's just something special about coming home from living away for even 2 months. Living in the city means there's not really all that much vegetation, there is quite a bit being New Zealand but there's just not as  much as further up north where my parents are. The sun was shining bright, the skies were blue and there were hardly any clouds.. I just couldn't not take photos.

I will say it will be a great break from the city but I'm not sure I'm going to cope in this tiny town for a whole month but lets see how we go. I think it's going to be a few days sleeping and relaxing in bed, in pajamas and all that jazz hehe x
