April Catch Up

Friday, 8 May 2015
So my birthday month is finally over and it truly was a birthday month I celebrated from Easter weekend all the way til last weekend it was great! Lets have a catch up and see what else happened.

The beginning of the month was Easter weekend and the start of my two week mid semester break. Due to not being able to go home for the holidays as I live so far away from my uni that it's slightly pointless paying over $300 to go home for around 10 days, my parents came down to Wellington instead and brought my brother along. We didn't do too many exciting things just spent some good quality time with them seen as I hadn't seen them since January it was nice to chill with them and celebrate my birthday seen as Brad was in Australia at a Brass Band competition which he won by the way. The following week his brothers came down and we saw Ed Sheeran!!!!! I can't contain my excitement it was amazing and I already have my tickets to see him again in December my gosh! I spent the rest of the holidays with Brads family in Wanganui enjoying the free time I had before uni started again and Brad started his busy Anzac week with Air Force, also celebrated my birthday again. Hallelujah the actual birthday happened! It was a fab day spent with friends and making memories; now I remember why I don't drink on weekdays anymore...

Hands down I've been loving cake oh my god I feel like I've had enough cake last month to make me never want cake again but hey if you're offering? I've also been loving the apple products I kindly got gifted for my birthday - being a special 21st I got an Apple TV and an Apple Trackpad, golly gosh they're amazing I can't wait til our internet is reconnected this week so I can permanently watch Netflix while doing uni work.

Unfortunately due to giving myself a few days off here and there over April because of holidays etc there have been less posts than usual however there's still enough to compete for top three and here they are:
iHerb Haul
I made a sneaky order over on iherb.com and this is what I hauled, also including a few more items from local shops. Check it out here.
Artist Attraction: Jasmine Dowling
Have a look at one of my favourite artists/designers at the moment, she creates gorgeous type designs and I just want to buy all of them. See here.
MSN, McFly & Myspace
Following Sarah-Elizabeth's post I flipped out my wallet and with a coin I looked back into my past. Look at what I'm talking about here.

Look at this gorgeous thing that I think if I could I would get down on one knee and shove a ring on it! It's just too perfect I don't want to remove the plastic safety covers as you can see from the shinyness all over the picture. Of course I am so proud to present the new place I shall be blogging!!!! A new shiny iMac!!!!! I'm so excited to get into using it as apart from using them at school and uni I've never used a Mac that's my own. It's weird to not have several thousand servers connected to it (and also lack of several thousand programs sigh). I'm looking forward to using it to blog, especially as I can actually upload photos to blogger instead of having to upload to imgur or another image host and copy and paste them in as blogger on my laptop decides it doesn't ever want me to upload an image via it. I might do a 'bloggers workspace' post soon when I move into my new room and get everything set up as if you can see in the photo everything's just dumped on the desk in this room.

Hopefully once acquiring Adobe Photoshop this will be the perfect little baby to do all my uni coursework on it sure does have a huge screen even though it's the smaller of the two iMacs but it's been a while since I used my 32inch screen so this feels huge compared to my laptop. It's gonna be great to Photoshop things on! I'm still learning my way around and it did honestly take me about half an hour to figure out how to download Google Chrome (I didn't realise you had to drag it from the image I thought it was just a simple image..) so that's going to be fun! I'll keep you guys updated if there's a hilarious let's all laugh at Sophie moment while learning x

Twenty Fourteen

Wednesday, 8 January 2014

I know a lot of New Year posts may be overkill but I feel like 2014 is going to be my year. Although I've already had some ups and downs and I know it's going to have one awful death in the family but it seems I've finally found my place.

I'm really excited to move back down to uni, less because of work but more because I'm flatting with my friends. Last year I lived in uni halls which were 5 bedroom flats so I didn't know my flatmates before I moved in with and it was so lucky that I got on with them and I got on with two of them so much they were like family by the end of the year it was fabulous. I don't know if living in the same flat as my friends will now make it a bit awkward as last year I had some where to go to to get away from if I needed some Sophie time and now I wont. I'm sure it'll be fine though as they all lived on their own last year so they'll be wanting their own time too. Think we'll have some great memories in that flat and hopefully stay there for the next three years of my degree. I'll also be living with my boyfriend which we'll see how that goes as we agreed to live together before actually getting together as I'm really for the whole not living with people you're dating but we'll see.

I'm hoping my second year at uni will go much smoother in classes having got past that freshers first year of learning all the new things and will finally crack down on classes specific to our degrees. I'm incredibly excited for a class I'm taking called 'Character Design' and really think it'll be so much fun as all I love doing in my spare time is drawing Disney so if I'm able to go down that kinda style route of animation I'll be so happy. I really hope to take my confidence to the next level and allow myself to actually ask for help and work while people are around me and let them see my progress works instead of hiding away until I finish my final piece.

Last night I made a huge purchase which has taken me years to finally cave into something I've really wanted ever since using one for the first time about 4 years ago; an iMac. Frankly I've heard some really good and really bad things about apple and I just wanted to make my own decision about it so just went for it. Deciding on a desktop instead of a laptop as my laptop is still pretty decent but my desktop really does need replacing as I never bother using it as it's useless. I'll just leave it up here when I move back down so I can use it in holidays and not have to bother carting my laptop back and forth as it's a bloody nuisance.

As for my resolutions it's now the 8th and I'm doing pretty well at most of them, as you can see from this post.. well better than I thought I would personally.

Santa baby slip a sable under the tree for me x

Day 10 ~
I'm not really sure what I want for Christmas this year to be quite honest. The things I do want are either quite expensive or I cant get in New Zealand. Pity...

Let's start off with those fab Reindeer Knitted Leggings from Topshop. For one thing I hate shipping another I hate summer Christmasses that mean I cant wear cute Christmassey things like these. I still want them though look how cute they are! Another really cute thing that although I can actually get in NZ it's really expensive for what it is, I'm sorry mr Ollie Owl Jar you're not cute enough for 30 bucks. Something I can however afford is this Rabbit Print from Typo also and I may buy it for myself for Christmas if I don't receive it from Santa.

On the tippity top of my Santa wish list is a new laptop, I've been dying for a mac for years and have always convinced myself I don't need one and they're not worth the price tag but it hasn't stopped me pining after one. If Santa gifted me a lovely MacBook Pro for Christmas I think I may just break down and cry.. but that won't happen. I've also been pining after the BarryM Gelly nail paints having seen them everywhere but unfortunately everywhere but stores here in NZ and nail polish does not ship where ever I've looked. All the cries.

Also ever since coming home from England this time last year and finishing my giant stash of chocolate and sweets I have been craving more and more English food. That is the like sole thing I miss from living in England and I wish we had a lovely Tesco just round the corner full of Maoams and Galaxy and gah just everything x
