Well, February wasn't as productive with book reading as January. Mainly because I spent so long getting into A Conjuring of Light that there wasn't much of the month left. Let's get into it though!
A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It took me so long to get into this after the break of around three years from reading the first and second books. However, once I did finally get into it (around page 200-300) I was straight back into the world and characters I fell in love with, in the previous two books. It was really nice to get more of a glimpse into other secondary characters backgrounds, like the King and Queen, that we hadn't really seen much of in the previous books.
Jason and Medea by Apollonius of Rhodes ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my selection for February's Blogger's Bookshelf book club theme of 200 pages or less, at 49 pages it definitely fit the bill. It was hard to read as all older classic language usually is but I enjoyed reading more about a section of a rather famous Greek Myth of Jason and Medea that I haven't read much of in the past. I knew briefly about the Golden Fleece but not much about how Jason and Medea met.
China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I wanted to leap right into this straight after finishing Crazy Rich Asians but I forced myself to resist while trying to get through A Conjuring of Light. Trust me it was hard to resist. I actually liked this better than the first book and I think it's because a lot of the first book is spent learning all the characters and their relationships to each other whereas the second book you know almost everyone so can just dive straight into the drama (and I'm all for the drama). I'm currently reading the third book and I can tell you this series does not disappoint with the drama!
On The Come Up by Angie Thomas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yas girl, Angie Thomas did it again! I actually liked this better than The Hate U Give, which I know isn't a common view around the internet. You feel like you're seeing everything through Bri, you are Bri, instead of just reading her story. I could relate to her, I felt her pain and her happiness even though I could barely imagine the things she's going through. I don't usually cry at books but the writing just made you feel so involved that I cried a fair bit, although I also laughed out loud more than once. Read my full review here.
