Artist Attraction #10 // Alexandra Snowdon

Monday, 25 April 2016

I can't remember when and how I came across Alexandra but I'm pretty sure it must have been on one of my trawls through the type hashtags on Instagram.

Alexandra, a graphic designer from Manchester in the UK, is one of my favourite artists at the moment. She creates cards, prints, and bags with quirky pretty hand lettered designs on them. Just how awesome does her work look? Even the process work looks awesome! She's currently working on the # 100 days of lettering, posting a new piece of hand lettering every day so it's a great time to start following her and taking in the work.

After seeing her work constantly on my Instagram feed I always thought they were all either screen printed or linocut but it turns out only some of them are. The process for most of her designs are just hand drawn and then scanned into Photoshop to add the texture. The texture is rolled out with an ink roller which are available from art stores however I'm sure you could find a similar texture around the internet if you wanted to use this technique. It's totally inspired the current part of my major project design!

You can find Alexandra at her Instagram, main website, and her two Etsy shops for prints and cards and bags if you want to see more. I do really want a couple of her prints, especially the class of 2016 graduate card for my wall as I finish uni this year - that makes me class of 2016 right?
