Hello, it's been a while. I had all these plans to post loads over December and while I've got many half written posts I just didn't want to post those that weren't up to scratch and really I enjoyed having some time off. I have a few posts planned for the next few weeks so hopefully, fingers crossed, I get the time to finish them and post them - otherwise they'll be up asap.
Anyways it's the first day of the year today, it's 2016 bloody hell. I spent the evening with my boyfriends family and my own playing games and having fun so I think that just topped off a great year. At the beginning of the year I only made one New Year resolution; to make 2015 better than 2014. Let's just say it was a success!
Family & Friends
I don't know if it's the same for everyone but although I was really close to my family to begin with after moving away to University I've gotten even closer. Especially with my Mum. I haven't been home that often this year as it's either too expensive or too far, but when I have managed to make it it's been great. I'm hoping to spend more time with my family in 2016, but of course it'll all depend on cheap flights and availability. I've actually spent more time with my boyfriend's family than my own, they're great and it's lovely to be accepted as their fourth child. After getting rid of some crappy friends last year I've managed to keep and add to my lovely set of friends who are great and supportive. So overall I've got lots of lovely people in my life who are wonderful. Also I can't forget getting our new little family member at the start of the year, having a kitten around surely has made things better!
University
I started to trust myself with my designs and it's totally paying off! I got so many A's this year compared to the last two years and I'm so proud of myself. I stopped doing what I thought people wanted me to do and started to do what I felt passionate about and it showed. While there were a class or two that wasn't my thing I've started to realise that it's better to realise that in University than later in life. Getting the chance to try out lots of different areas of design I've finally realised what sort of design I love. I got accepted into Honours year next year so although it's going to be a lot of hard work it'll be so much easier to fall into things I love and can work on for months and months and hopefully get some great grades!
Books
I didn't manage my Goodreads reading challenge goal of 20 books last year, but that didn't stop me setting my goal for this year higher to 30. But I made it! Although so many people I know doing the same challenge have achieved goals of 40, 60, 80 books I still feel like I achieved something great! I've posted reviews for most of the books on here so feel free to search them out if you're looking for something new to read! I may up the anti in 2016 and try for 40 books but we'll see how that goes!
Blog
So even though I've had this blog since 2013, I only properly started blogging and sharing my posts at the beginning of the year. I found the #NZBloggers and #BrunchClub community, joined Bloglovin, and haven't looked back. Gosh they're such a lovely group of people, if you haven't joined in on an event or a Twitter chat this year be sure to check them out in 2016! After building up the courage to finally go to an event I haven't looked back and my gosh I can't believe I spent that amount of time making excuses to myself to not go as I've met so many lovely ladies so far! I've been posting so much more and writing more posts that actually mean stuff instead of just a wishlist etc, of course there's still a few wishlists but everyone loves a wishlist! I also hit 10 thousand page views woo!
So I'll happily say my goal was achieved, I've had a great year that was so much better than the last and hopefully 2016 is even better! Happy New Year to all of you and I hope you had a fab 2015!
